Manufacturers
Cables are made to British, European or International standards, to ensure the purchaser and user has confidence that a product is safe to use and will operate as expected.
However, there is strong evidence that increasingly the guidelines and standards are not being followed by some manufacturers and these products are entering the supply chain and being sold into the UK market via wholesalers and distributors. The ACI aims to tackle this issue by raising awareness of the problem, collecting samples of such cables from the marketplace and conducting tests on them to ascertain their performance. If the results of the test conclude that the manufacturer has indeed supplied a product which is not up to standard the ACI will use all available communication channels to raise awareness of the issue to the public and electrical industry.
